The mother of a missing Middlebury College students says she’s encouraged that searchers have yet to find any trace of him despite two days of searching.

Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Garza was last seen at a campus social gathering on February 5th.

Natalie Garza, who traveled to Vermont from Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Monday, says she’s trying not to think the worst, but she fears her son can’t get in touch with her.

Throughout the day yesterday, about 40 searchers used dogs and poles to poke the snow in their search for Garza. Police say Garza was last seen late on February 5th at a party about a third of a mile from his dorm.

His bank account, cell phone, and campus security card have gone unused.
