Vermont legislative leaders are urging the Public Service Board to carefully scrutinize the latest version of a deal that would allow Verizon to sell its landlines in northern New England to FairPoint Communications; Senate Democratic leaders have unveiled a major plan to restructure the state corrections system; and Essex school shooting suspect Christopher Williams surprised a Burlington courtroom yesterday. That’s because he backed out of an agreed-upon guilty plea in the August 2006 shootings that killed two people and wounded two others.
