Vermont’s four largest electric utilities believe the state needs new generating plants to replace at least some of the power they buy from outside sources. Vermont’s budget is $30 million out of balance this year. Senator Susan Bartlett says the situation could be worse next year unless something is done now.  A top official at the Jay Peak ski resort says the expanding facility is very grateful that federal money is coming to help improve the sewage systems in Jay and Troy.
