About 35 Vermont National Guard members are due back in the United States today after a year in Afghanistan.

The soldiers of Task Force Catamount were sent overseas in the spring of last year.

They have been training the Afghan Army.

The soldiers will arrive at Fort Stewart, Georgia, and stay there for several days of processing before they return to Vermont.

One member of Task Force Catamount was killed in combat. Master Sergeant Tom Stone of Tunbridge was killed during a firefight in March.
