Moose permits to be auctioned off

The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife is going to be auctioning off five moose permits for this fall’s hunting season.

It’s the third year the department has held auctions for the permits.

The auction is held in addition to the lottery, which will award 1,250 moose permits for the separate moose seasons in October and early November.

Hunters willing to bid for a moose permit have until August first to submit a written bid.

The bids do not include the cost of a Vermont hunting license.

Last year bids ranged from $3,700 to $5,900 dollars.

Proceeds from the auction will help fund Fish and Wildlife educational programs.
