Mill workers criticize severance packages

Mill workers about to lose their jobs in Groveton, New Hampshire say the severance package being offered by the company is pathetic.

Union representative Ron Pickering said workers at the Wausaw mill are being offered up to 12 weeks of severance and medical coverage for those with at least 20 years of service, down to four weeks for those with less than 10 years at the mill. He said the union hopes to negotiate a better package.

Other officials of the United Steelworkers Union also appealed to the company to keep the mill open.

The company says the Wausau mill will close on December 31st.
