Officials in Middlebury are debating whether to rebuild or replace the town’s 100-year-old municipal building and gymnasium.
Preliminary estimates for the proposed 16,000 to 19,000-square-foot municipal offices and community center range from $6 million to $10 million.
The current town office has structural problems, including decaying stairs and water damage, which some town officials say would be too expensive to fix.
A steering committee in Middlebury is researching energy efficiency, relocation and potential grant funding sources. The committee was expected to meet Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the town offices.
