22 students participating in Middlebury College’s program in Alexandria, Egypt have left the country and headed for Prague.

The group included 5 Middlebury students, 17 from other schools and two staff members.

College officials say they were able to also bring 12 American students from other institutions with them on the flight. The students will stay one night in Prague before they’ll begin finding flights home on commercial airlines.

Officials say the students were not in danger, but with the political situation in flux, they thought it was best to move the students as soon as possible.
