Sales Tax
Norwich retailer George Fraser predicts he’ll lose more business to New Hampshire now that Vermont’s sales tax has gone up to 6%. Hew Hampshire has no retail sales tax.

Policing in Essex County
Essex County in the Northeast Kingdom is open to the idea of sharing police officers with communities across the Connecticut River, in New Hampshire. The idea was prompted by a budget shortfall that does not provided funding to pay two Essex County Sheriff’s deputies.

Pownal Racetrack
The director of the Bennington County Industrial Corporation says there’s a confluence of economic and political forces behind the new drive to restart the Pownal racetrack. Lance Matteson says there is an intense interest in the track’s future in Pownal, where many people remember when it was the source of good jobs.
