A setback for the auto industry in its court battle with the State of Vermont; Montpelier residents celebrated as the ice that had threatened to block the river and flood the city’s downtown broke up and tumbled downstream; in Williston the Select Board has agreed to break a policy that prohibited commercial development on any land south of Interstate 89; the captain and the owner of the tour boat that capsized on Lake George in 2005, killing 20 elderly tourists, have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges.
