Senator Bernie Sanders calls on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign; the full Senate is expected later today to overturn a provision of the Patriot Act that gives the Attorney General the authority to appoint federal prosecutors without Senate approval; at least ten cats and dogs have died recently from eating a variety of tainted pet foods manufactured by the same company and distributed nationwide*; a bill that could provide some relief to Vermont state workers who blame their former workplace for causing a rare illness is moving ahead in the Legislature.
