Vermont lawmakers have returned to Montpelier for their 2008 session; a new organization has formed to oppose any move toward gay marriage in Vermont; about 300 people lost their jobs this New Year’s when the Wausau Paper mill in Groveton, New Hampshire shut down. Among those workers, about 30 were from Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom; state environmental officials are warning that air quality in many valley areas around the state are poor.
