There’s no doubt that the U.S. economy is being battered by downturns in housing and the financial markets. Economist Jeffrey Carr says Vermont’s economy is also struggling; business leaders say the strength of the Canadian dollar has helped to draw many Quebec shoppers to Vermont; Senator Bernie Sanders is sponsoring a bill that would overturn the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision about tailpipe emissions from cars.
