The state’s largest electric utility is reaching out to other corporations to raise money with the goal of keeping Vermonters warm this winter; two different versions of the farm bill has passed both the House and Senate last month, but Senator Patrick Leahy says the real work on this bill begins now; the state treasurer’s office has gotten the word out about unclaimed property accounts this year after starting a web site where Vermonters can find out if they’re owed money from old bank accounts and utility refunds; over a year after a teacher was shot in Essex, school officials have removed a security system from one of the town’s elementary schools.
