Anne Knowles chairs the Geography Department at Middlebury College and she just received an American Ingenuity Award from the Smithsonian Magazine. Her work in geography goes far beyond the map-into the foggy distance of historical events to help us understand people’s motivations and movements.
She spoke with Vermont Edition about her work.
