Merchants Prepare For Sales Tax Holiday

Storeowners in Vermont say they have high hopes for the upcoming sales tax holiday and they’re confident it will provide a much needed boost for their businesses.

Last year the Legislature approved two sales tax holidays for any purchase less than $2,000 that’s normally subject to the sales tax.

Sandy Howard of Buck’s Furniture in Wolcott says she hopes the sales tax holiday will draw consumers into her store to purchase items they might otherwise not buy.

And so Bucks, and some other stores, will be open for 24 hours on March 6.
