Members of the public are going to get a chance to pay their respects this weekend to the Vermont National Guard members who’ve died in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, at a special memorial at guard headquarters in Colchester.
The Vermont National Guard Fallen Heroes Memorial will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday at Camp Johnson.
The sculpture cast in bronze features a soldier kneeling in reflection at the boots, rifle and helmet of a fallen soldier.
The memorial was paid for by money raised by the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation. It was dedicated Sept. 11.
To get into Camp Johnson, visitors must show a valid photo identification.
