Top stories developing across the region at the noon hour:

Vermonters are still in shock over the news that two members of the Vermont Army National Guard have died in Iraq in an ambush south of Baghdad; six Vermont soldiers were wounded in the attack; Adjutant General Martha Rainville in Colchester and Governor Jim Douglas in South Burlington comment on the attack; the Army National Guard put out the word that more Vermonters are being deployed to Iraq; Congressman Bernie Sanders was going to kick off his re-election campaign this evening but has cancelled the event saying this is a time for Vermonters to mourn the losses of friends and loved ones.
