Burlington Diocese Changes Position
The Catholic Diocese of Burlington has changed its position on how much information it will give authorities about alleged sexual abuse by priests. The announcement was made over the weekend by Bishop Kenneth Angell. (VPR)

Possible IBM Lay-offs
There’s more concern that computer giant IBM may trim its workforce. IBM is the state’s largest private employer. Recent reports that it may lay off 8,000 workers has prompted Governor Howard Dean to call a meeting next week with top company officials. (VPR)

Missing Eagle Returned
“Elsie” the eagle has landed. The tawny eagle that flew away from the British School of Falconry in Manchester last week was discovered this week near Bromley Mountain. (VPR)

Springfield Tool Plant
There’s a new bidder for two machine tool shops in Springfield. Town officials say they’re now hoping a Delaware bankruptcy court will expedite the sale of the shops. (VPR)

Body Found
Vermont authorities are looking for more information on a man whose body was found over the weekend by a turkey hunter in the woods near Northfield. Police say the man was murdered and his body discovered in a shallow grave. (AP)

A former Essex Junction priest, Charles Many, has been named as a child molester in a Connecticut lawsuit. Many may be implicated in a Vermont case as well. (AP)

The Vermont attorney general’s office is weighing charges against a man accused of writing bad checks on a state account. Cameron O’Connor is accused of stealing more than $5,000. (AP)

The computer network handling Vermont’s finances has had a big security leak plugged. It involved easy access by training-level passwords that had never been changed. (AP)

Vermont Yankee
Officials at Vermont Yankee suspect that more than 40 fuel assemblies may have to be changed out at the nuclear power plant. The plant’s shutdown for maintenance and repairs began Saturday. (AP)

Schools’ Insurance
Towns and school districts insured by Legion Insurance of Pennsylvania are hoping they don’t have any claims soon, because the financially troubled company has been taken over by the state and isn’t paying claims. (AP)
