Secretary of State Deb Markowitz is kicking off her campaign for governor.
Markowitz, a Democrat, is planning a noontime rally Monday at the Barre Municipal Auditorium.
She is one of five Democrats seeking the party nomination to run for the seat being vacated by Republican Gov. Jim Douglas, who is not seeking re-election.
The other Democratic candidates are state Senate President Peter Shumlin, state Sens. Susan Bartlett and Doug Racine, and former state Sen. Matt Dunne.
Republican Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie is also in the race.
