Markowitz expects reasonable GOP primary turnout

Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz says she expects a reasonable turnout for next Tuesday’s primary election, especially among Republicans.

That’s because the GOP has a primary for the U.S. House nomination and also for the U.S. Senate seat.

It’s been nearly two decades since there were vacancies in both offices.

And Markowitz says that’s generating interest in next Tuesday’s election, even though the Republican Party has thrown its support behind a candidate in each primary.

Markowitz notes that Democrats also have a hotly contested primary for lieutenant governor that should draw voters.
