Energy and the future of the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant will top the agenda when the state’s leading manufacturers’ group holds its annual meeting in Montpelier.

Associated Industries of Vermont members will take in a series of talks and panel discussions on the state’s energy future. AIV’s William Driscoll says he expects about 180 to attend the session.

Gov. Jim Douglas is slated to speak to the group at the lunch hour.

AIV is focusing on energy as the Legislature prepares to debate whether Vermont Yankee’s license to operate should be extended for 20 years beyond its currently scheduled 2012 shutdown date.
