Man struck, killed by train in Claremont, NH

A Claremont, New Hampshire man has been struck and killed by an Amtrak train in New Hampshire, the second such fatality in New England in two days.

Police say 57-year-old Douglas McGuire was struck just after 7 p.m. Friday as the Vermonter train was approaching the station in Claremont, a town near the Vermont border.

The train was enroute from Washington to St. Albans, Vermont, with 68 people aboard. No one on the train was hurt. Passengers were bused from Claremont to St. Albans.

On Thursday, a worker checking track was struck and killed by an Acela train just outside the Providence, Rhode Island, station.
