A man accused of shooting a co-worker and friend to death during a country road confrontation in Jamaica has pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges.

Fifty-nine-year-old Robert “Clint” Barnum is accused in the December 11 death of 36-year-old Ritchie Lynch of Wardsboro.

Authorities say the men argued after Barnum accused Lynch of damaging a Christmas present Barnum had received from his girlfriend.

Barnum’s attorneys claim Lynch made numerous threats against Barnum the day before the shooting and the shooting was self-defense. But prosecutors say Barnum shot Lynch numerous times.

The two men had worked together at Stratton Mountain.

Under the plea deal, Barnum is likely to serve at least seven years in prison.
