A 45-year-old man appeared in federal court in Burlington on bank robbery charges this afternoon.

Doug Allen is accused of robbing a Merchants Bank yesterday in Groton (Vermont) and making off with an undisclosed amount of money. Nobody was hurt.

His formal arraignment will come later.

Allen was arrested at about 1:00 this morning at a home in Burlington. Officials say some of the money that was stolen was recovered.

Lee Pugh of the FBI in Albany, New York, says it’s not yet clear what kind of weapon Allen used, or where he lives.

Allen faces federal bank robbery charges.
