Vermont State Police say a St. Johnsbury man is accused of attempted murder after trying to stab a state trooper.

Authorities say when two troopers went to arrest 30-year-old Mark Young on sexual assault charges Thursday they found him bent over in a bathroom with a 14-inch knife, which he refused to drop. To get him to comply, Trooper Lyle Decker said he used a Taser, but that Young still refused and then lunged at him with the knife.

Young was arrested after another Taser was used on him. The troopers weren’t hurt.

Young is being held on $200,000 bail, cited for attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault of a minor female.
