One of Vermont’s longest running television personalities is retiring. Lyn Jarvis has produced the community program Across the Fence on WCAX television for 27 years.
He officially announced his retirement today at the Vermont Farm Show in Barre. His last show will be in June. Farm show organizers declared Wedensday Lyn Jarvis Day at the midwinter showcase to Vermont farming.
Jarvis says a lot has changed since he started with the show in 1975. It used to air in black-and-white and mainly featured technical advice for farmers. Today the program profiles local Vermont communities, and includes features on everything from gardening to bird watching.
