A new low-cost airline plans to offer flights from Burlington to Washington D.C. this summer. Independence Air announced Wednesday that it will serve Burlington and 34 other cities with daily flights to Washington Dulles International Airport. Flights from Burlington will start July 17. One-way fares range from $69 to $125.

Independence Air was created when Atlantic Coast Airlines decided to stop flying United Express connector flights and create its own low-fare airline. Independence Air will be the second low-cost airline to serve Burlington. The arrival of JetBlue in 2000 has been credited for ongoing increases in passengers, including travelers from out of state.
