Vermont State Police say a $350,000 piece of logging equipment was destroyed in an arson fire while parked at Mount Mansfield Union High School in Jericho.

The fire was reported at about 3:15 a.m. Monday after a passing motorist saw the fire in what turned out to be a mechanized tree cutting machine.

Fire Chief Randy Clark says that when he arrived the machine, called a Fellerbuncher, was fully engulfed in flames.

The piece of equipment was owned by Green Mountain Forest Products of Highgate.
