As the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, VPR is collecting the thoughts and feelings about that historic event from a variety of Vermonters.

One of those was Howard Dean, who in 2001 was serving what would be his 5th and final term as Governor of Vermont when the Twin Towers fell.

Dean spoke to Vermonters on VPR not long after it became evident that the U.S. was under attack and, like most Americans, remembers just where he was and what happened in those first moments after the attack took place:
