New Hampshire’s first major wind farm is expected to be generating power this winter.

The Lempster Wind Power Project is scheduled to be running by the end of the year. The 12 wind turbines are expected to provide power to 10,000 homes. The company building the project says the emissions saved by the turbines are the equivalent of taking more than 5,000 cars off the road.

Ten percent of the power will be bought by the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative. Public Service Company is buying the rest.
