(Host) There was pomp and circumstance at other state capitals in the region today.

In New Hampshire, the Legislature met its constitutional duty to convene today. But then many lawmakers quickly left Concord to avoid the worsening weather.

All but about 50 of New Hampshire’s 424 legislators made the trip to Concord.

In New York, Governor David Paterson gave his state of the state address.

Paterson described New York’s economic condition as “perilous.”

He says balancing the state budget will create a brighter future, but he warns it could take months or years to get there.

A budget proposed by Paterson would require layoffs, a cut in school aid and dozens of new or higher fees.
