The Vermont House is expected to take up a bill this week that includes a five cent hike on the state gas tax.
The House Appropriations Committee is expected to vote on the transportation projects bill on Monday.
Supporters of the bill say the money raised will help to pay for an estimated $120 million in road and bridge repairs over the next three years.
The full House is expected to debate the bill on Tuesday and Wednesday.
