Vermont lawmakers won’t be in Montpelier this week. They’re taking their traditional recess so they can attend Town Meeting Day in their home districts. A few communities already have held their town meetings but the vast majority will meet on Tuesday.

When legislators return, they’ll find full schedules of bills awaiting their attention. Last Friday was a key deadline for committees to complete some of their early work. That means that both the House and Senate will have many issues to debate in their first days back in the Statehouse.
