The Vermont Legislature is hoping to hit the ground running this year, the second year of its current two-year session.

Lawmakers are hoping to pass laws on energy, health care and a variety of other issues.

Tomorrow Governor Jim Douglas is going to give his state of state address.

But the first day was largely for getting organized.

House Speaker Gaye Symington announced a handful of committee assignments and welcomed a new member: Republican Representative James McNeil of Rutland Town replaces Representative David Sunderland who resigned for personal reasons.
