(Host) Senator Patrick Leahy says he’ll be lending a hand to help the gubernatorial campaign of fellow democrat Doug Racine. Leahy is expected to join Racine at a number of events in the final two weeks of the campaign.

Leahy, who is back in Vermont during a Congressional recess, says Racine’s quiet style of leadership has been very effective in building important coalitions to deal with many of the key issues facing the state:

(Leahy) “Also he probably understands as well as anybody I’ve ever known the relationship with state and federal programs. And one of the things where we’re going to have to do a great deal – especially in the next few years with the national economy the way it is – is to make sure that all federal programs work extremely well. He can work very well with all three members of the Vermont congressional delegation.”

(Host) Racine started his political career working for Senator Leahy in Washington in the 1970s.
