Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy says he’s not upset at all that John Bolton has announced his resignation as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Leahy says Bolton has been a divisive figure and a cheerleader for the Bush administration’s failed policy in Iraq.

Bolton was appointed by President Bush last year but who has been unable to win Senate confirmation. He will step down when his temporary appointment expires in a few weeks.

Leahy says Bolton’s legacy is part of a foreign policy that has harmed America’s standing in the world.
