A defense aide to Senator Patrick Leahy could get a top job in the Air Force.

Leahy’s office says that Daniel Ginsberg has been nominated by President Barack Obama to become Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

Leahy says Ginsberg combines the talents of a keen analyst with the knowledge of how to get things done in the legislative process and in the defense bureaucracy.

If confirmed by the Senate, Ginsberg would supervise manpower, military and civilian personnel, Reserve component affairs, and readiness support for the Department of the Air Force.

Ginsberg has worked for Leahy since 1999.
