Senator Patrick Leahy gave the keynote address at the mid-winter meeting of the Vermont Bar Association on March 28 in Burlington.
The theme of Leahy’s remarks was the importance of preserving the rule of law.
In the speech, Leahy spoke about the tenure of Alberto Gonzales as U.S. Attorney General, the attempt by members of Congress to overrule judges in the Terry Schiavo case, and the firing of Pakistani judges by President Pervez Musharraf.
