Closing arguments are expected this morning in the case of a man suing the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vermont over his alleged molestation by a priest more than 30 years ago.

James Turner, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, claims that then-Reverend Alfred Willis molested him while he slept in a Latham, New York, motel room where his family had stayed after a religious ceremony for Turner’s brother.

He accuses the diocese of covering up and failing to respond to Willis’ sexual misconduct.

The diocese says it does not dispute the molestation but says it was not aware of Willis’ alleged sexual misconduct before the incident.
