Law School To Hold Forum On VT Yankee Ruling

The implications of a federal court ruling over the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant will be the topic of a forum at the Vermont Law School.

Faculty experts on Wednesday will discuss what’s next in the ongoing legal battle.

Last week, a federal judge ruled the Vernon plant can operate after its original 40-year federal license expires in March. The ruling came after Energy sued the state for declining to give the plant permission to continue running.

Gov. Peter Shumlin met with Attorney General Bill Sorrell on Monday to discuss whether to appeal the federal court decision.

The Vermont Law School forum will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.
