(Host) Law enforcement officials want to make the Internet safer for children.

U.S. Attorney Tom Anderson organized a meeting today at the Statehouse with police, prosecutors and people who work with children.

He says children need to be taught about the dangers of the Internet – and what they can do to use it more safely – just as they’re taught to drive a car.

(Anderson) "Shouldn’t we be doing the exact same thing for our kids before we send them out on the information superhighway. Just like we provide drivers’ ed, shouldn’t we be providing Internet ed?”

(Host) Anderson says computers have become a powerful part of life. But he says the Internet can be misused by people who prey on children. So he’s working with other leaders to develop policies that will help parents protect their children.
