Laid off Claremont workers could find work with another builder

Dozens of workers who lost their jobs when a Claremont modular home company shut down last week could find work with another local builder.

Preferred Building Systems, a division of LaValley Building Supply, has already hired three former employees of the now-defunct Customized Structures. Company chairman Harold LaValley says Preferred Building Systems, which also builds modular homes, currently has 23 employees will expand to about 80 by next summer. LaValley says several former Customized Structure workers have already filled out applications.

Meanwhile, Governor John Lynch says Customized Structures owes workers 60 days of severance, not the two weeks pay it is offering.
