(Host) Saint Michael’s College and the University of Vermont have collaborated to invite a former Vermont governor to teach classes. Madeleine May Kunin will serve as a distinguished visiting professor in political science at both institutions starting this fall.

At a press conference at Saint Michael’s College, Kunin described her motivation to teach:

(Kunin) “My real intent is to get students engaged in public life and in their communities. And both Saint Michael’s and UVM have a strong trend in that direction, where many students volunteer and participate in the community. But I’d also like them to think about, anyway, stepping over the line into political life as well.”

(Host) Kunin was governor of Vermont from 1985 to 1991 and served as ambassador to Switzerland in the 1990’s. She had previously taught political science at Middlebury College.
