A Killington inn closed two months ago after being linked to Legionnaires’ disease has been ordered to close again.

The Vermont Health Department ordered the Cortina Inn to close a second time after tests detected the bacteria in one of six follow-up samples.

The inn closed voluntarily in April after confirmation of the bacteria in its water system and three confirmed cases of the disease were linked to it.

There have been no new cases of illness.

The Health Department’s Doctor Donald Swartz says the inn has been working to assure the safety of guests and employees but Legionnaire’s bacteria can be difficult to eliminate.

Cortina officials couldn’t be reached for comment.
