In Killington, town officials have approved golf rates for the 2012 season at Green Mountain National Golf Course, raising them just slightly.
Green Mountain National is the only course in Vermont that’s owned by a municipality, and for years Killington has struggled to pay off its debt, which is now more than $5 million.
Town officials say they’ve made a minor increase on the seven-day membership, but otherwise rates will remain flat.
Last year, Killington’s select board hired a marketing specialist to help it manage the course.
Town Manager Seth Webb says revenue is still a priority this year, and the town will continue to focus on early marketing and group sales to drive traffic to the greens in 2012.
