Ken Burns portraits of America include award-winning documentaries on the Civil War, Baseball, and Jazz.

His latest PBS series focused the camera’s lens on World War II, and Ken Burns will talk about the human dimension of that conflict January 2 at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro as part of the Vermont Humanities Council’s First Wednesdays Lecture Series.

Burns says in making "The War," he wanted to avoid what he terms the current and lamentable celebration of the rich, the famous, and powerful in modern day America:
