Judge to rule whether case should be moved to juvenile court

A judge must decide if the case of a teenage murder suspect should be moved to juvenile court.

The defense also has asked that some evidence against 15-year-old Jonas Dixon be thrown out because Vermont State Police didn’t give him the chance to have an adult present during questioning.

Dixon is accused of the shooting death of 24-year-old Jacob McDowell during a January 27 confrontation in Dixon’s mother’s home in Sutton.

State Police say the shooting happened when McDowell, who was seeing Dixon’s mother, tried to take the gun from Dixon after the boy told him to leave.

The judge heard testimony on the defense’s motions last week and is expected to issue a ruling in the next two weeks.
