A judge has ruled that recorded police interviews with the man charged with killing a University of Vermont student will stay sealed for at least another week.

The Burlington Free Press and WCAX-TV are trying to obtain copies of the audio and video recordings of Brian Rooney. On Friday, Chittenden County Judge Michael Kupersmith decided that the recordings will remain private until he issues a decision in the matter.

The recordings are of interviews with Rooney after 21-year-old Michelle Gardner-Quinn of Arlington, Va., disappeared Oct. 7, 2006 and until her body was found six days later in Richmond.

Earlier in the week Judge Geoffrey Crawford ruled that the recordings should be released unless Kupersmith, the trial judge handling the case, ordered them sealed.
