A Barnet man who pleaded no contest to hunting violations after he videotaped himself and others committing the infractions has been ordered to produce a movie about bears as part of his punishment.

Caledonia Superior Court Judge Mary Miles Teachout last week sentenced 43-year-old Carl Sanborn to 59 days on a work crew for four fish and game violations and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Teachout also ordered Sanborn to complete a 30-minute film about bears in Vermont. The film can’t contain any mention of law enforcement or the illegal practice of bear baiting.

The Caledonian-Record reported that Teachout explained that her order for the video was to replace hunting as an activity for the family.
